What to Expect

We get that being new in any environment can feel intimidating and awkward, so we promise not to single you out as a visitor. Instead, you’ll be warmly welcomed by some of the 800 people who call Eastminster “home,” one of our volunteers will hand you a worship bulletin so you know what to expect during the service, and they’ll help you find a comfortable seat. During the service, you’re welcome to participate or simply observe—and that goes for the offering time, too.

What about my kids?

At Eastminster, kids matter! Although children are always welcome in worship, we also offer age-appropriate environments for kindergartners through high schoolers during our Sunday 9:30 a.m. services and for kindergarteners through second graders during our Sunday 11 a.m. services. During the 11 a.m. service, kids will start in the main service with the adults and then are dismissed to Kids service after worship. Nursery for tiny ones is available during the Sunday 9:30 and 11 a.m. services (Kids Area) and the Thursday 6:30 p.m. service (Student Center). We also offer a nursing moms room in our Kids Area with a live video feed of the service. Our entire Kids team, including volunteers, have completed background checks, and we have a secure check-in process to ensure your kids’ safety.

Frequent Questions

What are the services like?

Each of our services are slightly different, but they all include music, prayer, and teaching. At the Sunday 8 and 9:30 a.m. services, you’ll experience liturgy (prayers and Scripture we read out loud together), organ-led music, and hymns (“traditional” songs of the church). Our Sunday 11 a.m. services are more “contemporary,” with music led by a band, rather than an organ or choir. Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. are what we call “sacred-modern” where we bring together sacred practices of the church with a modern style of music. Learn more about Thursday nights >>

What should I wear?

Folks at our Sunday 8 and 9:30 a.m. services tend to dress a bit more formally, and our pastors wear robes at those times. But you’ll see a mix of all clothing styles at every service, from work-wear to weekend-wear. So please feel welcome to dress comfortably—whatever that means for you.

How long do services last?

Our services last about an hour. If you’re visiting on a Sunday, it’s helpful to arrive 15 minutes early so you can stop by our welcome desk in the lobby. If you have children and would like them to experience our kids ministry, please arrive 30 minutes before the service begins so we can introduce you to our team and explain our secure check-in process. Read more about our kids ministry. On Thursdays, just come to the Student Center to be welcomed, drop off your littles (age 0 – Pre-K) and head into worship.

What kind of people attend Eastminster?

People just like you—and people very different from you, too! We’re a multi-generational church of people in all seasons of life and from all sorts of backgrounds. You’ll fit in. Don’t worry!

What else happens on a Sunday morning?

In addition to our worship services, we offer educational classes (which we call Grow Groups) for adults (9:30 and 11 a.m.), children (9:30 and 11 a.m.), and students (9:30 a.m.).
